George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones 5-Book Boxed Set (Song of Ice and Fire series)

Great read. I could not put the book down some nights! 

Complex and detailed characters, great descriptions of environments. You find yourself hating a character to actually start liking them half a book later. The story is full of action and there is some romance too. Each chapter is focusing on a different character and ultimately all the stories eventually intertwine. 

Each chapter leaves you longing for knowing what's next for each of the characters. The books are slightly different from the HBO series so don't be surprised if certain characters end up having a different fate from what you've seen.
